An island in West Nusa Tenggara Province, just next to Bali. People from around the world travel to Lombok to see the underwater beauty or simply to surf. Lombok is also popular for those honeymooners who want a quiet romantic destination with pristine beaches.
Daily flights are available to Lombok from Denpasar, Bali. There are also flights from Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya and other cities. Lombok International Airport is situated at Tanak Awu, some 30 km or an hour drive south east of Mataram.
Public ferries depart from Padang Bai (Southeast Bali) and Lembar (Southwest Lombok) and available almost every hour. The journey takes about 3 – 5 hours.
Fast boat are available from various departure points in Bali to Gili Trawangan. Gili Islands are also easily reached by speedboat from Senggigi.
Lombok is only a 20-minute flight away from Bali. Some traveler prefer Lombok over Bali, mainly because of the pure charm of Lombok itself. The local culture, tranquil coastal areas with white beaches and green mountains, minus the crowd.
Located off Lombok west coast are Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno and Gili Air. Enjoy the white sandy beach, clear water, and stunning scenery. They are only 15-45 minutes by boat from Senggigi. Snorkeling and diving are a must.
Kuta Beach in Lombok is a popular place to visit in Lombok. Kuta Beach has white sand and generally not much visited by tourists, unlike Kuta Beach in Bali. Geographically, the region is surrounded by the natural coastal hills, hence the beautiful panorama.
Tanjung Aan Beach
Located not far from Kuta Beach in Lombok, Tanjung Aan is famous for it's round shaped sand, like pepper. The clean white sand spread widely around the beach with a coastline of 1 km. Be amazed with the color gradation of the panoramic view.
The most popular area in Lombok with many resorts and restaurants. Senggigi Beach is transformed into one of attractive places in Lombok with a view of its long coastlines. From a distance and above, you can see the sand shades from black to white color.
Mount Rinjani is officially designated as a national park and located in the northern part of Lombok with an altitude of 3,726 meters above sea level. Mount Rinjani is the second highest volcano in Indonesia after Mount Kerinci and really popular for hiking or trekking.
Lake Segara Anak
Lake Segara Anak is a crater lake (caldera) of Mount Rinjani. It's located at an altitude about 2,008 masl. The lake has depth ranges from 160-230 meters. In the middle of the lake, you can see the child of Mount Rinjani called Mount Baru Jari.
The original name is Tangsi Beach, located in the village of Sekaroh, Jerowaru, East Lombok. This remote location can be reached about two hours from the city of Mataram, the capital of West Nusa Tenggara Province. Do not miss the magnificent sunset view.
Sekotong Beach able to attract divers because it has beautiful, barely untouched and fairly well maintained coral reefs. Sekotong Beach is located in Sekotong District, West Lombok. Travel time from Mataram to Sekotong is about 2 hours by motorized vehicle.
Dessert Point is definitely the ultimate place to surf in Lombok. This place is also known as Bangko-Bangko by the locals. Dessert Point has been crowned as one of the 10 places with best waves to surf by International Surfing Association.
Located in the village of Rambitan, Pujut District, Central Lombok. Sade is one of the pristine traditional settlements. The houses are built of bamboo construction with a roof of weeds leaves. In addition to the architecture of the house, the social system and the daily life of the Sasak people are still found for generations.
