Japan has one of the world's best transport systems. Train is the most popular method and covered most locations. The transportation cost is more expensive than other countries. It is recommended for traveler to get the foreigner travel pass, such as Japan Rail Pass. Make sure to try the shinkansen or bullet train to travel between cities. Two major domestic airlines are Japan Airlines (JAL) and All Nippon Airways (ANA). There are small regional airlines that usually offer cheaper fares like Skymark operating out of Fukuoka; Skynet Asia Airways, connecting Nagasaki, Kumamoto, and Kagoshima with Tokyo and Okinawa; and Air Do, out of Sapporo. Bus is widely available but destinations and stops are often written only in Japanese.
