Meet orangutan in its natural habitat, sail across Kumai River with traditional Klotok boat in this Orangutan Tour, visit Pundok Tanguy and Camp Leaky orangutan rehabilitation center, take short trekking through tropical rainforest searching for wildlife, birds and other rainforest animals as well as tropical jungle plant. Itinerary:

DAY 1 : PANGKALAN BUN – KUDANGAN (L,D)
Arrive at Pangkalan Bun, meeting service and start drive Kudangan dayak village for around 5 hours, upon arrive at Kudangan sightseeing around the village . After dinner involved with local peoples at welcoming ceremony to welcome you, you may take apart of the ceremony. Overnight at simple guest house.

DAY 2 : PENYOMBAAN – TREEKING TO PADUKUAN (B,L,D)
Morning breakfast and start trekking for around 5 Kilometer. You will pass by several rivers that floating down from the mount. On arrival in Pedukuhan, the Dukun or Shaman will do welcome ceremony. This ceremony is used for welcoming guest before enter a new forest or new rice paddy. Enjoy your time to see the real local people activities. Here you could see Jurung (rice storage). Dinner and overnight at villager house.

DAY 3 : PADUKUAN – PENYOMBAAN – KUDANGAN – PANGKALAN BUN – KUMAI - PARK (B,L,D)
After breakfast trekking up to see the water fall, enjoy your time and swimming around the water fall area. Back to the Pedukuhan, packing up and trekking down direct to Penyombaan Village drive back to Kudangan Village. Lunch will be served en route in the local restaurant. On arrival in Pangkalan Bun direct transfer to Kumai to board on the boat. The boat is a traditional Klotok wooden river boat about 17m by 2.5m with a roof which forms the upper deck where you can view the rain forest as it glides by. In the peaceful afternoon we will slowly explore the quite river by the klotok while observe the monkeys along the riverside. Dinner and overnight on the boat. simple mattress, pillow, fine meals, bottled “mineral” water, mosquito net, kitchen, simple toilet available on boat besides the familiar – helpful guides and boatmen.

DAY 4 : BOAT - PONDOK TANGGUI - CAMP LEAKEY (B,L,D)
After breakfast board the klotok to travel up river to Pondok Tanggui rehabilitation center for orangutans, see feeding time at 09.00am, then up a side creek to Camp Leakey the rehabilitation and research center for orangutan. take short trek around the camp area and back to the boat for Lunch. At 14.00 back to the forest to witness feeding time for old rehabilitation orangutan given additional foods. Overnight on the boat.

DAY 5 : PESALAT - TANJUNG HARAPAN - BOAT/LODGE (B,L,D)
Cruise the river to Pesalat reforestation camp. Trekking and join with replantation activities by planting the tropical plant. Back to the boat and cruise down the river to Tanjung Harapan Rehabilitation Center to witness orangutan feeding time. Boating during night to observe fireflies along nipah palm mangrove, overnight on the boat. Overnight on the boat.

DAY 6 : PARK - KUMAI - PANGKALAN BUN AIRPORT (B)
Breakfast on the boat then cruise down the river back transfer to Kumai and drive to Pangkalan Bun airport for next destination.

Itinerary:

Day. 01 Airport – Kumai – Proboscis Tour –Houseboat (L, D)
Upon your arrival in Pangkalan Bun Airport, meeting service with our staff and guide then direct transfer to Kumai. It will take about 20 minutes. Upon your arrival in Kumai direct  transfer to the houseboat, Lunch will provided On board. Afterward boating down Kumai River approximately 15 minutes to reach Seikonyer River, the main river in Tanjung Puting National Park. Cruise up the seikonyer river you will see nice vegetation around the river bank, Nipa Palm, Pandanus, and some kind of trees that growing up around the river.

See some wildlife such as birds, Macaque, Proboscis Monkey and Orangutan, if the time still permitted you will visit Orangutan feeding in Tanjung Harapan at 15.00 PM. Then At 16.00 return back to the boat and continue boating up to observe and learning more about Proboscis monkeys along the river banks. Proboscis monkeys are being endemic animal that can be seen only in Borneo. Dinner and Overnight in the Deluxe or Super Deluxe Houseboat.


Day 02. Houseboat – Pondok Tanggui – Camp Leakey – Houseboat (B,L,D)
After breakfast, boating up to reach Pondok Tanggui, the second rehabilitation center for the orangutan. Visit the Orangutan feeding 09.00 AM, enjoy your time while take some pictures. Then at 10.00 AM return back to the houseboat and continue boating up to Camp Leakey. Camp Leakey is the highlight of National Park. You will be passing by the black river which is full of wildlife within such as many kind of birds, primates, fish, also crocodiles. Lunch will be served by our own cook with special various food. On arrival in Camp Leakey, you will visit IC (Information Center) to see all work of DR. Birute Galdikas while she studies the orangutan here start from 1971 until today. Enjoy your time until 14.00, trekking up into the forest to see orangutan feeding, enjoy the time till 16.00 back to the boat and boating down direct to the Nipa Palm area to see thousand fireflies. Dinner and overnight in the houseboat.

Day 03. Houseboat  – Kumai – Lopus Dayak Village. (B,L,D)
Early Morning, breakfast on board direct transfer to Lopus Village by private Car. It will take around 5 hours. Lunch will provide en route in the local restaurant. Upon your arrival in Lopus Village sightseeing around the village, free program in the afternoon. In the evening after dinner you will welcome by the Dayak Tomun with their Bagondang ceremony. Here you might allow to dance with the Dayak people while they will serve you with the rice wine. Enjoy the ceremony and back to the longhouse / local house for sleeping.

Day 04. Lopus Dayak Vilage - trekking up into the Primary forest – Overnight on the tent in the Forest (B, L, D)
After breakfast drive up to Muhur Village, it is the starting point to do trekking. It take for 1 hour drive from Lopus Village. Upon your arrival in Muhur Village continue trekking up into the forest. Here you will experience and enjoy the life in the oldest primary forest in Borneo. You will pass by several small rivers that floating down from the main forest. The water here are very clean and you could take Mandi or swim on very sallow river. On arrival on the place you will spend a night, your porter and guide will set up a tent while the cook will provide your lunch.  Dinner and overnight in the forest on a tent.

Day 05. Tent – Muhur – Kudangan – Pangkalan Bun – Hotel (B, L, D)
After breakfast trekking up to the water fall and swimming there. Enjoy your time till we return back to Muhur area where we parking our private car. Then continue drive back to Kudangan and Pangkalan Bun for another 5 hours. Lunch will be served en route in the local restaurant. On arrival in Pangkalan Bun direct transfer to the hotel. Dinner is under your own budged and overnight in the hotel.

Day 06. Hotel – Pangkalan Bun Airport (B)
Breakfast in the hotel and free on your leisure before we transfer you up to the Airport for your next destination. End of the Tour.

"Wild orangutan tours"

This is a much overdue review. We travelled as a family with 2kids then aged 8 and 11 in 2016. I m writing this now as I m planning another holiday and realise how much I rely on tripadvisor reviews...

"Three days, two nights - absolutely fantastic"
